What is a “shared branch?”
A “shared branch” is a credit union location that is part of a national network of “linked” or “shared” facilities. Members of participating credit unions may conduct business at any of the “shared” facilities as though they were at their “home” credit union. Branches are identified by displaying the CO-OP Shared Branch logo.

Where do I go inside the branch to process my transaction?
Inside most credit unions, you will proceed to the teller windows. Some locations may have “Share Branching specific” windows to serve their guests; this would be designated by the CO-OP Shared Branch logo at the teller’s window. When in doubt, check with a Member Service Representative or at the information desk.

How do I access my account?

You need three things when you visit a Shared Branch location:

  • The name of your Credit Union
  • Your Account Number at your Credit Union
  • A current, unexpired, VALID Government issued picture identification with signature
    • State issued driver's license or identification card (temporary extensions are not accepted)
    • U.S. Passport
    • City, State, County or Federal ID card or badge (may require additional form of identification)
    • U.S. Armed Forces Identification Card or the new Smart Identification card without signature
    • Resident Alien Card issued by the INS

Have these items ready to present to the teller. This will save you time and will help us with serving you. All transactions require identification. We ask, because the Shared Branch Network cares about protecting your identity and account information.

If you have questions regarding your account or transactions that were performed through Shared Branching, please contact your credit union directly.

*Some foreign identifications may be accepted based on Shared Branching policies.

Can I use an ATM at a shared branch free-of-charge?
An ATM located or associated with a "shared" facility is subject to the fees and rules that govern that machine and its operation.

How will my privacy be protected when I use a shared branch?
A member's right to privacy as enacted by Federal Regulations will be upheld to the fullest extent of the law. Members are encouraged to direct specific questions to their "home" credit union - BayPort Credit Union
