Android Devices with Camera Removed

If you are using an Android device with the camera removed or disabled BayPort's Mobile Banking App will allow you to log in but you'll then be automatically directed back to the log in screen preventing account access. The reason for this is Android's operating system looks for all needed permissions by an app immediately up log in. One of the permissions currently required by BayPort's app is a camera to support mobile deposits.

Android has addressed this issue starting with its OS 6.0 (Marshmallow) and up. App permissions will be asked for only at the point of needing the given permission. For example, camera permission won't be checked for until a related feature needing the camera is accessed such as mobile deposit. BayPort's next app release will support the new Android permission changes which is expected to become available mid to late 2016 with app version 5.2.

If your Android device is not capable of updating to at least Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) the experience will remain the same as older Android OS versions will not support requesting permissions upon use. Older versions will continue to ask for all needed permissions upon first use of the app.
