Helpful Tips for Uploading Pictures of Checks

BayPort's mobile deposit/remote deposit service is offered through BayPort's online banking platform when accessed from a desktop, laptop, or mobile device.

1. Before uploading your check, draw a dot on each corner of the check (front and back)
  • This may help create an acceptable image that may not require cropping. This tip is useful when receiving messages such as "unable to read account numbers" which may occur if there is not enough space around the check.

2. Check the white space around your image when uploading. It is recommended to place the check on a black surface to get the best quality photo.
  • If you are getting a lot of white space when uploading. Save an image of the check to your desktop then use photo editing software such as Paint to crop the white space from the image. Then browse and upload the image using "use your own scanner software".

3. Verify your image format and DPI.
  • Make sure your image is saved in a JPG format at no larger than 200-300 DPI.
  • You can check the DPI of an image by right clicking on the image file then select Properties > Summary Tab > Advanced button.

4. Refer to the Help link within the upper right hand corner of the check deposit page within online banking via internet browser.
